North Carolina happy hour laws

Banned

Happy hour drink discounts are illegal in North Carolina. A drink special has to last the whole business day and be open to every customer, though food specials are fine. A bill to change this was still in committee in October 2026.

Happy hour in North Carolina

Bars in North Carolina can't discount drinks for part of the day, so there are no happy hour windows to list. What venues tend to offer instead is food specials and a lower everyday price on drinks.
